A data management plan is a document describing how the data will be managed, during the entire research process of a project. It should include answers to questions such as how the data will be collected, stored, made accessible, preserved and cover legal or ethical requirements you may need to consider.

Increasingly funders require a data management plan (DMP) as part of the application for research funding. For instance a DMP is required for applications to Horizon 2020 and the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) require a DMP for those projects who reward a grant as from 2019.

Lund University’s system for data management plans

DMPRoadmap is Lund University’s system for data management plans. The system aims to support researchers who receive or have already received project funding from, primarily, the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).

To create a data management plan in DMPRoadmap you log in with your LUCAT-id och go to “Create plan” in the top menu. There are two templates for DMPs in the system, one template custom to the demands of the Swedish Research Council and a local template for Lund University.

The DMPs are stored on a server within LU and should not be made public. However, they must be preserved and can be archived directly in the system.
