New MOOC: Catalytic Leadership for a Sustainable Change
This course emphasizes that systems-based changes are needed to achieve a sustainable world. In the past, dominant theories of change have neglected these complex conditions. In part, it includes the belief that change can be managed, planned, and controlled.
This course suggests more contemporary theories where you are more inclusive, being many stakeholders and use fluid ways of creating change. Similar compositions of ideas have been tested in the honours track Change Maker Future Track at LU School of Economics and Management.

The Sustainability Week at Lund University
Sustainability week is an annual event in Lund organised as a joint venture by Lund University and Lund municipality. The week serves as a platform for bringing together ideas, for cross-disciplinary collaborations, for raising public awareness and for inspiring sustainable change. Join this years Sustainability week 17-22 April, 2023.

Two new projects in sustainability innovation

The two new research projects are led by Thomas Kalling, Professor of Strategy at LUSEM. Both projects are organised within the framework of Sparbanken Skåne's Centre for Sustainable Enterprising (SSCEN). In these new research projects, industry, researchers and students will work towards the same goal: sustainable food production and the development of collective mobility in cities and regions.

Preparing future leaders to tackle wicked problems

The Change Maker Future Track aims to equip Master's students with the tools to become leaders of sustainable transformation. Handpicked students with a strong interest in sustainability issues and an entrepreneurial mindset has received practical training based on the challenges of external stakeholders while receiving support from coaches within the industry and academia. The "graduation ceremony" was a happy affair, and we have taken a closer look at the challenge "Lindängen" and spoken to Larissa Sophie Römer and Linnea Persson, students of Management and International Strategic Management respectively.

Sustainable Future Hub launches Think Tank

At the beginning of the year, bachelor, master and doctoral students from all over Lund University had the opportunity to apply for the Sustainable Future Hub's Think Tank at the School of Economics and Management. Out of 50 applicants, 23 students were selected, coming from 17 programmes across six faculties. The diversity of experiences and perspectives is further strengthened by the fact that more than a dozen different nationalities are represented in the group.

As part of LUSEM's commitment to sustainability, the School organises student-oriented events that allow students to challenge old truths and think outside the box. In collaboration with the Sustainable Future Hub, the academic leads of the Master's in Management and International Strategic Management, Ola Mattisson and Ulf Ramberg, respectively, invited CEO and "happy activist" Yasemin Arhan Modéer to give a lecture on how to "Think like an activist".

Preparing for a future sustainable career

As sustainability issues that combine economic, social, and environmental dimensions, climb higher on the agenda, it is a good idea to get a head start and apply the knowledge in a practical setting before graduation. One possibility is to engage in the School of Economics and Management's own sustainability initiatives, another is to do consulting work through the Lund University consulting agency Lunicore.

Waste and resource management stipend to LUSEM student

Every year, Sysav awards scholarships of up to SEK 50,000 for essays on waste and resource management. The scholarships are given for the essay or degree projects that are considered the most meritorious and relevant for Swedish waste and resource management. We are happy to announce that the Sustainable Future Hub student network alumni Alejandro Aristi will receive the stipend in 2022. We spoke to him about the stipend, moving to Sweden and his hopes for the future.

New ideas, energy, and inspiration when LUSEM students develop catalyst mindsets for sustainable change

Change Maker Future Track offers organizations a chance to work with LUSEM Master’s students and help to mold a mindset in the students that will be a catalyst for the sustainable development. The graduation ceremony featured presentations from the students, a diploma ceremony and a stipend for every student generously given by Sparbanksstiftelsen Finn.

New sustainability track at LUSEM attracts big names

The goal: to offer students at master’s level practical experience of sustainability work. Ester Barinaga new comissioner in Malmö's Tillväxtkommissionen
Ester Barianga, Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Lund University School of Economics and Management, has been appointed as one of 17 commissioners for the purpose of analyzing and improving the conditions for inclusive and sustainable growth in Malmö.

11 new students accepted to our Student network

They will soon be presented and introduced here on our web together with the rest of the Student network.
Reversed mentorship spring 2021 with four innovative startups
In this round of our Reversed mentorship we are collaborating with four startups from two of UNOPS Global Innovation Centers: UNOPS GIC Japan in Kobe and UNOPS GIC Sweden at Ideon Science Park in Lund. The Reversed mentorship is only open for students in the Sustainable Future Hub's Student Network and is held online.
A new MOOC course in sustainable taxation soon to be launched
Sustainable Future Hub collaborates with researchers, such as Axel Hilling, Associate Professor at Lund University School of Economics and Management, CSR Sweden and CSR Europe, to develop a digital course in sustainable corporate taxation with the aim of increasing knowledge about the subject. The course - Corporate Taxation and Sustainability - is given in English and has two target groups; partly University students, partly business leaders, primarily with responsibilities in tax and sustainability. Companies must broaden their sustainability work
On 18 November 2020, the annual conference Sustainable Business was held, where Susanne Arvidsson, Associate professor and Senior lecturer at Lund University School of Economics and Management, participated and talked about how sustainability affects growth and profitability. This year's edition of the Di Group's ranking Sustainable companies focus on risk. Here, Swedish companies are generally in a learning process, according to Susanne Arvidsson, who also led the work with the ranking. Read the whole article from DI here (in Swedish).

Sustainable Future Hub’s student network
In our network of students, we act together on the sustainability challenges through competitive intelligence/strategic intelligence, reversed mentorship and cases from companies and organizations. The network consists of around 30 students at different levels with different academic backgrounds, from Lund University School of Economics and Management and other areas of Lund University.

Funded by Sparbanksstiftelsen Finn, owner of Sparbanken Skåne
Sustainable Future Hub becomes a reality through the investment of Sparbanken Skåne and Sparbanksstiftelsen Finn. In a first step, this is planned to extend over five years. Through the foundation, profit distribution from the bank can be invested in community development efforts.
We want to invest in a future that is good for both us and future generations. By working with other actors, we can increase our focus on sustainability issues together. Sustainability work is about a long-term approach to the outside world and a willingness to make a difference. It's a journey we want to be part of.
Today, the sustainability perspective is an integral part of Sparbanken Skåne's operations, where the investment with the School of Economics and Management is an example. More about the bank and the foundations here.
