Finance and Governance of Entrepreneurial Ventures

PhD course (7.5 ECTS) in spring 2018

Topic and content

Finance and governance represent central features and processes in the transformation of entrepreneurial opportunities into new or improved markets offers. This PhD course aims to provide participants with systematic reviews as well as in-depths discussions about state-of-the art academic knowledge addressing the finance and governance of new and growing ventures. Particular emphasis will be placed on:

  • Central concepts in entrepreneurial finance
  • The context and public policies on entrepreneurial finance
  • Resource acquisition in entrepreneurial ventures, and the entrepreneurs’ perspective of financial capital
  • The financing of entrepreneurial ventures
  • The investors perspective, including banks, crowdfunding, business angels and venture capitalists
  • Corporate governance and control in entrepreneurial settings
  • The role and impact of boards of directors in new and growing ventures


The PhD course will be organized during spring 2018, and consists of three seminar modules over a period of three months. Please see below for the dates for each seminar module on the course.

Module 1:
February: 12th to 14th

Module 2:
March: 12th to 14th

Module 3:
April: 9th to 11th

There are no tuition fees for attending the course. However, participants have to cover costs for literature, food and accommodation, via their home institutions or by their own.
